There are situations in which you may need to capture the desktop and save it as an image file, maybe for recording a certain error message and send it to the producer of the program that caused the error or for recalling some important information. You could use the Print Screen feature for capturing image, but unfortunately, this is a lengthy process. That's because it's not enough to capture the image using Print Screen, you also have to paste it into MS Paint and then save it as an image file. This can be really annoying in case you need to do a lot of capturing.

But using DirectZCapture can really help you in this case. This simple Windows application allows capturing the desktop in more ways than one and saving the screenshot as an image file, supporting a wide range of graphical formats. The program is very simple to install and features a practical interface which allows capturing the desktop in several ways, taking a snapshot of the entire screen, an active window or a certain area of the desktop.

After an image has been captured, its screenshot is displayed in the program's interface. DirectZCapture allows capturing more images and displaying them all inside its interface as thumbnails. At this point, the user can choose to save them all at once or only some of the images. The desktop can be captured either by using the graphical toolbar or by using the Print Screen key on the keyboard. Every captured image which is displayed in the program's interface can be zoomed, allowing the user to see certain details.

Pros

It allows capturing the desktop in several ways, either full screen, an active window or a certain area of the screen. Besides that, more screenshots can be added to the program's interface and can all be saved in one of the many image formats supported. What's more, the Print Screen key or the graphical toolbar can be used for capturing the desktop. Furthermore, captured images can be zoomed directly in the interface.

Cons

The program doesn't automatically save screenshots as image files, as the user must do this manually using the program's options. Using DirectZCapture, you can capture the desktop in the easiest and fastest way possible, with a single click.
